This story is about a little wave named Willy. Willy the wave was bobbing along in the ocean, having a grand old time, going up and down, screaming joyous sounds. He’s enjoying the wind and the fresh air when he notices the other waves in front of him, crashing against the shore.
The waves are lining up and heading toward land. Willy tried to turn and go the other way but the forces of nature drew him in. One by one all the waves were crashing against the shore and they were never more. “Oh my, this is terrible”, Willy the wave says. “Look what’s going to happen to me!”
Then along comes another wave. It sees Willy the wave, looking grim, and it says to him: “Why do you look so sad?”
Willy the wave says: “You don’t understand! We’re all going to crash! All of us waves are going to be nothing! Isn’t it terrible?”
The second wave says: “No, you don’t understand. You’re not just a wave, you’re part of the ocean. It is a process that we cannot change. You should live as a joyous wave and when you roll up to the shore, go out with a bang. Be proud of who and what you are and if you rise and throw yourself into your fate, people will come and ride with you till the end, look.”
Willy the wave looked at the shore and saw the surfers selecting the largest waves to ride, rising on their boards, balancing and swaying with, and dancing on the wave till it rolls onto the sand and disappears. Willy rolled up his sleeves, realizing there was no way out of this situation and drew a big breath, swelled up, then tossed himself upon the shore.
Indeed, a powerful and challenging message. Life is like the sea and is full of waves. It shapes us, moves us, supports us, and awakens us to new shores. The lesson to learn from the waves crashing is that we are part of the ocean and not defined by our differences, we are water ourselves, it doesn’t matter blue, green, teal, or turquoise, we are all made of the same stuff.
Another lesson from the waves crashing is that, like the ocean, life can shift direction quickly. Certain aspects of life are beyond your control and some aspects are in your control. The waves are huge and powerful. They cannot be controlled but you can learn to surf them.
Have a great week ahead and don’t be afraid to make a splash when facing the new shores 😊

We all have meaningful goals developed over the span of our lives. The goals that foster a sense of purpose are ones that can potentially change the lives with a sense of purpose appears to have evolved in us so that we can accomplish big things together, which may be why it’s associated with better physical and mental health. Purpose is adaptive, in an evolutionary sense an it helps us to survive. Many seem to believe that purpose arises from the special gifts and sets them apart from other people, but that’s only part of the truth. It also grows…
